The Pieces We’re Coveting from YSL’s SS18 Collection

We are not sure a runway show can get more Parisian than the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer collection for 2018.  The huge runway stretched out beneath the glittery lights of the Eiffel Tower as models debuted the fashion house’s newest daring looks.  YSL is known for incredibly sexy fashions, and this collection did not depart from that reputation.  The looks in YSL’s SS18 Collection showcase plenty of skin, accented by some truly over-the-top silhouettes.  These are just a few of the pieces we are coveting from this huge collection.

The Setting

The setting of the runway was as much of an influence on the overall impact of the show as any of the looks that came down the runway.  The sun set around the Eiffel Tower as show began, lights all a sparkle.  Models walked the overlarge runway through misty clouds from a smoke machine, creating a mysterious and sensual atmosphere.

Who Wears Short Shorts

According to Saint Laurent, you had better get your legs ready for the spotlight next spring.  Most of the looks in this collection show a lot of leg, from short shorts to miniskirts.  We love the tailoring on these black cuffed shorts.  Pleat-front shorts can often add unflattering bulk, but the high waist and smart cut of these shorts create a beautiful silhouette.

Boots Made for Walkin’

This collection included some stunning accessories.  We appreciated the stacked bangles and long necklaces, but we were completely taken by the boots.  Yes, they are showy and over-the-top, but that is what we come to YSL for!  The feather boots were shown in a rainbow of colors, but the pure white may be our favorite.

Romper Room

Rompers have made a comeback in the past years, but they often skew more juvenile than sophisticated.  This breathtaking romper puts an end to all that.  The gorgeous print fabric is the scene-stealer of the look; the golden sheen is entrancing.  We also appreciate the way the deep V neckline culminates in a wide belt creating an ideal hourglass silhouette.

Something for the Boys

In keeping with current runway trends, this show featured male models as well as female.  Our favorite pieces for the men were a handful of cool collarless jackets, like this butterfly emblazoned piece.

The Parisian Woman

While the entire show felt distinctly Parisian, this particular look screams chic French sophisticate.  We want to get our hands on every piece of this look, from the slim trousers to the eye catching belt to the fabulous hat!
