This year’s NYC Fashion Week: Men’s schedule was dominated by newer, younger designers. The shows from these relative newcomers ranged from bold and new to muted and traditional. Veteran designers peppered the week with reliably great shows as well. Take a look at the shows we found to be the most noteworthy.
Gypsy Sport
Genderless sportwear designer Gypsy Sport took influences from both modern soccer and 1920’s flapper cultures for a show that was all about contrast. Upstart designer Rio Uribe’s models walked the runways in athletic jersey inspired garments embellished in tassels, fringe, and lace.
Matiere
Designer Matiere took a much more laid back approach to his Spring/ Summer show. The SanFran vibe of the young brand showed through the lightweight fabrics and dip dyed dyed garments.
Michael Kors
NYC Fashion Week did feature shows by veteran designers like Michael Kors. The designer’s show focused on hybrid pieces that can be worn from day to night or from work to play.
John Varvatos
Wrapping up the week, veteran Fashion Week designer John Varvatos’s show centered around the theme of urban romance. His typical rocker edge was softened with lighter fabrics and soft scarves.
