The fall looks we saw on the runway are making their way into stores and boutiques. It must mean fall is nearly here! Prepare yourself for a new season of fashion by getting the scoop on what will be trending this autumn. While there are plenty of gorgeous trends to sink your teeth into this year, these are our favorite fall fashion trends for 2018.
Classic Menswear Fabrics
Menswear fabrics tend to make a reappearance in the fall. Classic suiting fabrics like wood plaids and heavy houndstooth provide timeless appeal to fall fashions. These sturdy fabrics do not need to be limited to outwear, however. We love the look of these fabrics in feminine pencil skirts too!
Gabriela Hearst Augustin Coat – $3,350
Balenciaga Hourglass Double Breasted Coat – $3,400
Louis Vuitton Knee Length A-Line Skirt with Snaps -$2,450
Crafted from the tweed that is a seasonal signature, this Knee-Length A-Line Skirt With Snaps references classic French style in one of the collection’s key shapes. Celluloid fibers add a modern twist to its heavy, natural-looking fabric. The leather snap buttons that adorn each side can be worn either closed or open at the bottom.
Fendi Prince of Wales wool skirt – $2,190
High-waisted pencil skirt. The straight silhouette is completed by a pleat motif on the sides. Zip fastening. Made of glazed wool fabric with Prince of Wales motif in tones of beige and blue. The waistband is in black ribbed fabric with FF motif.
Fall Florals
Floral print fashions are typically associated with spring and summer, but we are seeing plenty of designers incorporate florals into their fall collections as well. These looks tend to be a bit moodier and a touch more gothic. The rich tones and luxurious fabrics make these flowers appropriate for cooler weather.
Michael Kors Rose Bonded Plongé Leather Jacket – $3,250
Inspired by the laid-back silhouette of a jean jacket, this version is crafted in Italy from bonded plongé leather and printed with a painterly rose motif. Front pockets and polished button detailing add a functional finish. Throw it on over a mix of prints for eclectic style.
Dolce & Gabbana Patchwork scarves kaftan – $4,700
The Flora print first made its appearance in the 60s when a silk scarf was commissioned for Princess Grace of Monaco. Originally depicted by Italian artist Vittorio Acconero, the print has undergone several reinventions and remains a source of inspiration for Gucci. This kaftan incorporates the Flora print along with the spring bouquet and floral square G print. It is made by sewing full scarves to each other.
Saint Laurent High Waisted Lavalliere Dress – $50,000
Mini dress with structured shoulders, entirely hand-embroidered with beads forming floral designs with a plunging decollete, a large tie at the neckline, and a gathered skirt.
Cozy Shearling
Last year we saw plenty of furs in designers’ fall offerings. This season we are seeing an abundance of shearling. This cozy fabric adds warmth and texture to cold weather outwear. Just the sight of shearling makes feel all warm and cozy inside!
Loewe Belted Coat Shearling Collar – $6,650
Chloe Aviator Jacket – $5,895
Made from sumptuous shearling, this authentic lambskin hooded aviator jacket reveals an aged patina effect. The slightly shiny finish is contrasted with black leather trims for a sporty allure. The Chloé logo is subtly embossed on the back yoke.
Coach Shearling Leather Coat – $2,900
New York City meets the great outdoors in this warm seasonal coat which pairs soft shearling with smooth burnished leather. It’s detailed with Western-inspired whipstitching and lariats at the sleeves and hem for touch of Western style.
