Your jewelry box has seen trends come and go but some trends graduate into essentials or key pieces that will never go out of style. A luxury watch is one of those must-have timeless (excuse the pun) pieces that should be part of every woman’s wardrobe. Putting on a watch is the perfect accessory to finish off any outfit while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Once upon a time, a watch was considered a necessity: a device worn on people’s wrists in order to tell time. A lamentable shift has happened throughout the past few decades and it seems as if timepieces have become somewhat old-fashioned, as many people have replaced them with smartphones or smart watches. Classic watches seem to have lost their importance in modern life but I am a firm believer that they are still a wardrobe staple and necessity for various reasons. A watch can tell you a lot about ones personality and character, it becomes part of your identity. Although it might sound strange, watches give us the opportunity to express who we are and how we see ourselves. Just like Hermes handbags or Louboutin heels, watches are a highly visual symbol of social status and association.
Some people are fortunate enough to have various types of watches; one for exercise, one for travel, one for elegant events…but if you are anything like me, I have one trusty watch I wear day in and day out. I decided to invest in a luxury timepiece that will forever be considered as classy, chic and designed with exceptional quality. In my opinion, it is worth spending on a quality watch you know will last a lifetime, especially one with a classic style that will always be considered as fashionable.
Although there are various companies that design watches, I have narrowed it down to my top four favorite luxury companies. All of these watches are from Winick Diamonds, my favorite jeweler in NYC!
1. Rolex- One of my personal favorite brands. When you think of luxurious watches, it’s safe to say Rolex is one of the first brands that come to mind. The quality of theses watches are like no other and no matter what style you choose, a Rolex is a Rolex. Sophistication and class are attached to this company’s name (and for good reason).
2. Audemars Piguet remains the oldest manufacturer of haute horlogerie. They also have one of the most unique approaches to watchmaking that reflects extreme precision in its designs.
3. Cartier – We all know and love Cartier for various reasons. Whether you know them for their jewelry or watches, Cartier is the epitome of luxury in every sense.
4. Patek Philippe is Swiss watch manufacturer located in Geneva and the Vallée de Joux. The company designs some of the most complicated mechanical watches and are considered by many aficionados to be one of the most prestigious watch manufacturers in the world.
Although the purpose and style of a watch differs from one person to another, one aspect has remained unchanged; time is told the same way.
