If you are heading to Paris for a luxury shopping trip, you would be well served to have a plan in place before you leave. Shopping in the City of Lights is an amazing, and potentially overwhelming experience. If you take the time to get your bearings before you leave, you can better plan your time to maximize your shopping experience. We’ve put together this brief guide of where to shop in Paris to help you plan your perfect trip!
Luxury Flagship Shopping
If you are searching for the ideal luxury shopping experience in Paris, you must head to the Triangle D’Or. Located in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, this shopping mecca is bounded by Montaigne, Champs-Elysées and George-V avenues. The major fashion houses of Paris call this district home. In many ways it is the birthplace of French fashion design. On these streets you will find dozens of flagship stores for the world’s most recognizable designer brands, including but not limited to:
- Louis Vuitton
- Dolce e Gabbana
You could easily spend your entire trip just in this one area. To maximize your time spent shopping, book a room at one of the luxury hotels located near the Triangle D’Or. The Four Seasons Hotel George V offers the most luxurious stay near this extraordinary shopping district.
When we Americans think of department stores, we tend to picture something far less glamorous that what Paris has to offer. Located in the 9th arrondissement, the gorgeous Galeries Lafayette features a stunning glass dome and breathtaking 1912 Art Nouveau architecture. Take a short walk from the Eiffel Tower and you will find yourself at the upscale department store, Printemps. This store was recently remodeled, so it is even more beautiful than before! Or you can head to the first ever department store in the world, Le Bon Marché. The store was founded in 1838, but it now operates as a modern high-end department store.
Designer Consignment Stores
If you are looking for vintage couture or designer pieces at a steep discount, Paris’s consignment stores are the place to go. Reciproque is the largest luxury designer consignment store in Paris. Head to the swanky 16th arrondissement to find the store’s seven boutiques. If the store’s 7500 square feet of shopping space still does not satisfy your shopping habits, steer yourself to the 4th arrondissement. It is home to Alternatives, a designer consignment store favored by Parisian models and other locals.
