Twice yearly fashion houses who have earned the designation of haute couturiers display their newest creations on the Paris runways. Each of these collections must contain at least 35 looks. Each of these looks must display the design and craftsmanship expected of a haute couture look. This is a massive undertaking that requires hundreds of hours of skilled work. The end result is an amazing show of art for those of us who adore fashion. We are thrilled to bring you the latest in haute couture from Paris.
Giorgio Armani has taken the Art Deco aesthetic and declared it in a collection with a lacquered effect and sophisticated pieces in patent leather, shrouded in a timeless perfection of craftsmanship. Silk dresses, bodices and petite jackets with defined shoulders are enhanced by sumptuous embroidery delineating three-dimensional geometric shapes. Delicate strands of crystals enchant with their skillful play on light, revealing rich details also on the inside of garments and covering hats and headpieces, as if they were jewels. The perfectly-drawn silhouette possesses a sense of lightness suggested by the movement of infinite, fine fringing and slightly flared pants.
Vibrant and vivacious, this season’s collection is a celebration of Latin American femininity and tribute to the stylish legacy of La Doña, the beloved Maria Felix, her empowered persona, daring sensuality and spirit of fashion beyond fear.
Everything turns, rotates, evolves, repeats, and blooms. The vocabulary, not the language, of Couture changes. It speaks of bodies of innate solemnity to celebrate a specific and absolute kind of beauty. A vocabulary in which the body itself becomes color, which trembles and dialogues with colors. The repertoire of classic Haute Couture, made of ruffles, frills, fringes, volumes, flowers, are transformed by a present, hieratic and noble corporeity. Moved by a merging between fantasy and reality. Emotional synesthesia, wonder of gazes and sensations. Weightless hues that expand and vibrate. Weightless fabrics that frees and flow. Metamorphic Haute Couture: light and iridescent like a flower that blossoms. Petals, corollas, crowns, inflorescences bloom and spread everywhere, touching the body, settling on the eyes. Everything turns, rotates, evolves, repeats, changes. And blossoms, on the skin.
The new Gaultier Paris Spring-Summer 2019 collection transports us into an aquatic world where jellyfish, coral and marine algae travel together in colored silhouettes toward Japanese riverbanks. The collection showcases the revisited striped jersey, “shark fin” jackets and the cages that are so dear to the designer…
The Givenchy Haute Couture collection for Spring Summer 2019 took place on January 22, 2019, in the lower galleries of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. With “Bleached Canvas”, Clare Waight Keller furthers her philosophy of modern couture and broadens the distinctive Givenchy signature with an of-the-moment aesthetic that is hers alone.
Karl Lagerfeld turns the Grand Palais into a Mediterranean garden to unveil the Spring-Summer 2019 silhouettes.
