It is officially 2017…the holiday season has come and gone, a new year is upon us and I can safely say that winter, in its full attire, has arrived! It is now time to brush off your winter wardrobe and channel your inner snow queen. Now I don’t know about you, but I find staying warm in the winter while still looking stylish can often pose a serious challenge. But not to worry, there is definitely a way to ward off the winter chill while still showing off your chic side.
Last month, I attended the opening of the first ever US Flagship Moncler store, located in the heart of Manhattan on Madison Avenue. Not only did I fall in love with their latest collection, but also the event in itself was so unique and innovative. Moncler partnered with two Manhattan-based artists and asked them to interpret New York City in their respective mediums. Moncler unveiled their “Tribute to New York City” project, which included a collection designed by Thom Browne. In my mind, Moncler has always epitomized luxury but now they have taken their collection to another level, combining their classic styles with unique high-tech urban designs.
As I entered the flagship store, my eyes were immediately drawn to an art installation that covered an entire wall. The installation consisted of 28 uniquely designed limited edition duvet jackets that collectively created a mosaic of the US Flag. The limited edition jackets were designed by Thom Browne and sold in order to benefit New York’s largest poverty fighting organization, Robin Hood. Among the night’s highlights was the debut of Spike Lee’s short film, Brave. The six-minute film depicted a variety of New Yorkers wearing Moncler, dancing and singing in locations ranging from the Statue of Liberty to Coney Island to Central Park’s Bethesda Fountain. Spike Lee’s film was created in order to tell a brief story and send a message of love, respect and admiration.
As I continued to make my way through the store, I became more and more impressed by the extensive selection of Moncler’s women’s, men’s and children’s ready-to-wear. This year’s Moncler Special Collection includes cashmere sweaters, jackets and other accessories, many of which are limited to the Madison Avenue boutique. I was also partial to Moncler’s first eyewear collection, Moncler Lunettes. They are the perfect combination of luxury meets high fashion and are exclusive to Moncler boutiques and a handful of department stores.
It was so refreshing to see a luxurious designer elevate and expand the brand identity through various forms of art.
