Menswear Moments
This season is all about shopping in the men’s section! We all need a little change every now and again, so what better way to switch things up than shopping for clothes inspired by menswear? It’s time to toss those dresses and skirts aside and explore your inner fashion tomboy. Lately, some of the most sought after women’s fashion trends are heavily inspired by men’s outfits; think oversized clothes, pinstripe suits, blazers, oxfords, brogues and tailored trousers (just to name a few). Designers throughout the world are creating looks for women that are similar to those found in the men’s department, however, many of these looks have a slight feminine touch. Whether it is the fabric, print or texture, it seems as if designers have created a chic line of menswear for women. There is something so elegant and beautiful about a woman dressed in luxurious menswear. Let’s just say that Katherine Hepburn was way ahead of her time! She is the perfect example of how to make menswear look feminine and sexy.
Velvet
Velvet, velvet everywhere! This is one trend I am definitely falling for this season. Velvet is just one of those few materials that begs to be touched and is undoubtedly one of the most luxurious materials available on the market. From New York to Paris, velvet dominated runways this season. This fall, the infamous 90’s trend officially made its comeback and you will definitely be seeing a lot of velvet. Whether it is shoes, coats, jumpsuits or blazers (my personal favorite), velvet is hot to trot!
Brocade
Brocade is one of those fabrics that elevates your fall wardrobe and instantly gives you a luxurious and elegant look. Brocade is a woven fabric with a raised patterned, normally embossed with silver or gold thread. For centuries, brocade used to be worn to convey social status and although today it is available at different prices points, the takeaway is that it is still a rich and luxurious fabric.
When I think of brocade, I am reminded of the drapes in a Victorian mansion or the infamous movie, Gone with the Wind. Even though brocade is typically thought of as a textile used for home décor, it is now one of the hottest fall fashion trends.
Many people think that brocade is strictly for evening wear, as it is such an elegant fabric, however I think it dresses down rather nicely. I personally love the feel of a long brocade skirt or crisp blazer. However or whenever you wear brocade, rest assured you will make a luxurious statement. Fall fashion, here we come!
The Cape
If you are looking for a way to stand out in the outerwear fashion category, capes are the way to do so! The cape trend has no intention of going away anytime soon, so it is time to embrace this new look and flaunt the latest and greatest statement capes. I find capes to be an essential fall accessory that can be flirty yet sophisticated. There is such a wide array of designs when it comes to capes; there are classic designs that are available in chic camel hues, similar to the one I am wearing, as well as stunning floor-length designs such as the glamorous capes by Alexander McQueen. This season, a cape is a must-have fashion staple and it is one of those items I like to call a “fashion necessity”. Capes have become an essential fall accessory that are extremely versatile and useful.
