Fashion and Tech: The 2016 Met Gala

Gala season is in full swing after last night’s Met Gala.  This year’s theme was Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.  As always, the red carpet delivered dozens of gorgeous couture looks on some of the year’s most fashionable celebrities.  We have picked a few of our favorites to share with you.

Nicole Kidman donned a galaxy-inspired Alexander McQueen gown.  The couture dress and cape sparkled like the night sky on the Met’s red carpet.

British model Jourdan Dunn’s Balmain gown embodied the theme of the evening, the sleek silhouette referencing both technology and the human form.

The Valentino gown Rachel McAdams wore to the gala played up the contrast of the chainmail-like bodice and the soft, script lettering on the skirt.  The lettering spelled out lines from Dante’s The Divine Comedy.

Lupita Nyong’o stunned in a jade Calvin Klein gown dripping with sequins.  The gorgeous dress almost took a backseat to her head-turning up-do.

The most literal pairing of fashion and technology was on display in Claire Danes’s dress from designer Zac Posen.  The Cinderella gown was crafted from organza woven with fiber optic lights.  Click on the embedded Instagram video above to see the dress in motion.
