We all use professionals for various aspects of our beauty routine. A manicurist for a nails, a hairdresser for cut and color, an esthetician for skincare and even a stylist to make sure your wardrobe is on trend. With that being said, why don’t we use a professional to help us with our makeup routine? Makeup is a daily ritual for millions of women all over the world but do we truly know what type of makeup/brand we should be using? Does our foundation match our skin tone? What color concealer should we be using? Does this lipstick look good on me?
How many times have you impulsively bought a makeup product that looked fabulous but then realized it wasn’t the right color the moment you left the store and looked in the mirror? Not a great feeling…
I have been getting my makeup done by professionals since I started modeling. Throughout my many years of working in the industry, I have learned that makeup application is a task that many of us aren’t able to tackle.
I was recently shopping at Barneys’, picking up my usual makeup products, when I came across a sign that said “Jason Ascher, In-House Beauty Consultant”. Naturally, I was intrigued to find out more about Jason and booked an appointment. Ladies, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made: Jason Ascher is a makeup guru! I was amazed to find out Jason’s services are complimentary, provided you purchase a minimum of $200 in makeup products (we all know that’s easy to do when shopping at Barneys).
When you meet with Jason, he takes you into his studio, where you have a one-on-one session for an hour. The beauty of Jason’s private studio is the fact that he has hand selected his favorite products from various makeup counters; he doesn’t work with just one beauty brand. Jason has an incredible ability to bring out the best version of you by using the correct makeup products for your skin tone. His role encompasses many responsibilities as he also teaches you how to apply your makeup, which is a priceless skill. It’s incredible to think how a little makeup goes such a long way; although this might sound a bit cliché, wearing the correct makeup raises your self esteem.
During my latest visit, I asked Jason what are five products that every women should have in their makeup bag. He responded that everyone is completely different so it is hard to pinpoint five specific products. However, he did say every woman should make sure to hydrate their skin, take care of their eyebrows, apply color to the cheeks as well as use under eye concealer.
If you have the chance to visit NYC, make sure Jason Ascher is on your list of people to see. He has made my life so much easier by simplifying my makeup routine. He has taught that a little makeup goes a long way!
PS- Barneys also offers this amazing service in Beverly Hills!
